The department of nutrition and dietetics provides a range of nutrition services across the Bendigo Health region as an integral part of an holistic approach to health care.

Mission:
The aim of the nutrition and dietetics department is to provide high-quality, evidence-based nutrition services that are in line with current best-practice standards for dietetics.
These services will be provided to Bendigo Health clients and staff, local community members and affiliated regional healthcare organisations as required, according to demand.
Service description:
- Nutrition and dietetic services to: inpatients and outpatients of our services, residential care, psychiatric services, home visits and outreach services to community clients.
- Services include: individual assessments of nutritional status, provision of therapeutic diets, education and support for clients and their carers regarding ongoing nutritional needs.
- Nutrition education programs to staff, other health professionals and community groups.
- Support and consultation to the food services department to ensure meals are nutritionally balanced and meet the needs of clients for a range of special diets.
- Management of the Home Enteral Nutrition (HEN) Program.
- Health promotion activities.
- Supervision of dietetics students from a range of universities.
- Provides dietitians with opportunities for continuing professional development.
