Occupational Therapists (O.T.'s) help people of all ages to achieve satisfaction with their daily living activities of leisure, work or independence.
O.T.'s assist people in the development of the skills and resources to cope better with daily life, despite illness or disability. This can include innovative ways of doing things, ways to make the environment safer, aids and equipment advice.
Occupational Therapy aims to increase independence in everyday tasks (activities of daily living) e.g. dressing, grooming, eating, drinking, personal hygiene, toileting, domestic tasks, shopping, cooking, use of transport and communication devices etc. It also aims to create safe home, community and work environments and support people in return to activities.
Occupational therapy provides home assessment, equipment prescription and individual therapy and group therapy sessions. It also provides assessment for equipment modifications.
