SHFPACT provides unbiased and non-directive pregnancy options counselling to women in the ACT with unplanned pregnancy, including where relevant and acceptable to her, to her partner and/or family.
This service may also be provided to partners and/or family who may require information and support, provided access by this group does not compromise access by women with unplanned pregnancies.
Sexual Health and Family Planning ACT (SHFPACT) is a pro-choice organisation, and advocates for women's rights to make informed choices about their sexual and reproductive health. We believe that faced with an unplanned pregnancy, a woman makes a decision that is based on her values and beliefs, including her religious or spiritual values, and takes account of those of her partner, family and the community in which she lives.
We neither promote nor condemn the choice of any option, whether continuing with the pregnancy, seeking adoption, or termination of pregnancy, and our services will refer for any of these options.
We are part of a national organisation, Family Planning Alliance Australia, and share a common philosophical position that abortion should be safe, legal and accessible, as should access to appropriate support to maintain a pregnancy to term and subsequently to raise a child, and access to services for adoption where a woman chooses to continue the pregnancy to term but not to parent the child.
