The Canberra Hospital Gastroenterology and Hepatology (GE&H) unit provides:
– Inpatient care of patients with gastroenterological and diseases,
– Consulting service,
– Endoscopic procedures,
– Clinics for patients with viral hepatitis, liver disease, bowel disease, gastrointestinal cancer and complex gastrointestinal disorders,
– Clinics, support and follow up for participants in the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program.
As a specialty unit, we service 22 inpatient beds and our ward houses both medical and surgical services in the specialty. In addition, the unit conducts more than 4000 endoscopic procedures each year, and provides more than 3000 occasions of outpatient service.
The GE&H unit provides a 24 hour 7 day per week on-call service for gastroenterological emergencies and in-patient consultation service.
