Social Workers can offer counselling around crises or reactions to illness or treatment. They may also help coordinate community services to help you upon discharge. Social Workers are available to assist if you are experiencing anxiety, grief, relationship problems or need help with accommodation and income issues. If within the hospital, you can ask the ward staff to contact a Social Worker or the public may phone directly to the Social Work Department during business hours on the number provided. This service is available afterhours until 9.30pm at night via the Canberra Hospital Switchboard on 6244 2222.
