Home and Community Care [HACC] Respite
Respite Care provides 'in home' support and care support and care to people who are assessed as being in need. The respite worker may attend the home for periods of 8-12 hours while the carer has time out.
The respite worker may attend the home or may accompany clients to participate in activities in the community. Outings need to be planned for specific activities. Inclement weather may restrict outings i.e. excessive heat or cold wet weather.
Respite can be provided in the form of planned regular respite, emergency respite and occasional respite.
Costs of the activities must be met by the client. Outings are confined to the Shire boundaries and may incur travel costs.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF CARER
The worker may provide practical support by undertaking limited household tasks and personal assistance including:
* sweep and mop floors;
* wash clothes and linen;
* clean kitchen surfaces;
* bathrooms and toilets;
* cook meals, if requested;
* assist with tasks as outlined under Personal Care.
NOTE: Respite is not available to provide care while the usual carer undertakes paid employment or unpaid volunteer work.
