Provides assistance for anyone who has difficulty with everyday activites due to illness, accident or ageing. The service covers all aspects of day to day living, including self-care, leisure and vocational activities. Clients may be helped to relearn old skills or learn new ways of doing things.
This may include:
-- Retraining in activities such as showering, dressing, cooking & shopping.
-- Home visits to assess and advise about home modifications and equipment to assist people to be as safe and independent as possible.
-- Education in simplifying dailsy tasks and reducing fatigue.
-- Stress management and relaxation therapy.
-- Manufacture of splints to maintain limb position and provide comfort, hand therapy & scar management.
The Department has a variety of equipment, available to hire, to assist with daily living, including shower seats, over-toilet seats, commodes and manual wheelchairs.
Occupational Therapy is located in the Arapiles Building, Baillie St, Horsham.
