The Midwifery Unit of the Mildura Base Hospital offers a range of services all focussing on the needs of pregnant women and their families and assists them to prepare for the arrival of their baby.
The Mildura Base Hospital's Maternity Services Team compromises of qualified and experienced doctors, midwives, nurses and support staff committed to the provision of high standard of care women expect at Mildura Base Hospital.
Birth-rate: Our birth rate is nearing 1000/year and steadily increasing.

Accreditation: The midwifery unit is accredited as Baby Friendly. A Baby Friendly Health Initiative (BFHI) is an international project that aims to give every baby the best start in life by creating a health care environment where breastfeeding is the norm and practices known to promote the health and well-being of all babies and their mothers are followed.
The Baby Friendly Health Initiative's Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding are the global standard by which health services are assessed and accredited.
A 'Baby Friendly' health service is one where the mothers' informed choice of feeding is supported, respected and encouraged.
