Dialysis Unit provides haemodialysis treatment and home peritoneal dialysis services. Three Bendigo Nephrologists and a large range of hospital services support the Dialysis Unit.  The unit also acts as an educational resource for medical staff, nursing staff and students both within and external to the organisation.  The Renal Service provides haemedialysis, peritoneal dialysis, pre-transplant workups, post renal transplant followup and acute renal care.

The Renal Dialysis Unit at Seymour Health is a satellite unit under the Royal Melbourne Hospital. If emergency dialysis care is needed out of hours, you will require transport to the parent hospital.

If you feel unwell outside our hours of operations we strongly recommend that you contact your doctor or the Royal Melbourne Hospital. Avoid waiting until your next scheduled dialysis session, as delays may be detrimental to your health.

Hours of Operation
Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 7am to 7.30pm, for a morning and an afternoon shift 
Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, 7am to 1.30pm, for a morning shift only 
Sunday - closed
  

In case of emergency 
Admission to the Renal Dialysis Unit is arranged by the Coordinator of the Royal Melbourne Hospital Dialysis Service in Consultation with the nursing staff of the Seymour Health unit.

Holiday patients are accepted only if space is available.

Prior to being admitted to the Seymour Health Renal Dialysis Unit, we will require the following information:
Letter from your transferring hospital 
Letter from your doctor detailing full medical and surgical history, medications, etc. 
most recent blood test results 
HIV. Hep C, Hep B and MRSA status 
Details of level of patient participation, ie setting up chair/fistula packs, etc. 
Venous access details 
Recent renal chemistry 
Ferrum administration record 

Please note that you are required to bring your own supply of medications and drugs used while dialysing, such as Ferrum and Eprex.
