The hospital is situated in the heart of the Parliamentary Triangle in Canberra.  We provide both day surgery and inpatient services in the Barton ward.  Patients who stay in our Barton ward can be accompanied by a companion at no extra cost.  Corporate Hotel rates are available for patients from out of town if they decide to come to Canberra the night before.

Barton Private Hospital

Canberra Eye Hospital provides specialist care for general eye conditions, Cataract surgery, Laser Eye Surgery, Glaucoma, Macula Degeneration, Diabetic Eye disease, and diagnostic testing. Monday - Friday opening hours vary, dependent on surgical bookings. 

EFTPOS and Senior's Discount are available at this service. Referrals are required.

Canberra Eye Surgeons

Surgical and medical retina subspecialist expertise, Dr Barry has a keen interest in age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusions, macular holes, epiretinal membranes and retinal detachments. Dr Barry also performs cataract surgery, and has extensive experience in managing the most difficult cases that involve vitreoretinal intervention. Dr Barry understands the importance of providing a comprehensive service and thus maintains an interest in the management of common oculoplastics disease, glaucoma and other general ophthalmic conditions.

Dr Barry is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO) and an active member of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Retina Specialists, as well as the American Society of Retina Specialists.

Dr David Tridgell provides eye care for general eye conditions, cataract surgery, diabetic eye disease, macula degeneration and gloucoma.  Dr Tridgell operates both privately and publicly at the Calvary Hospitals.

Provides appointments to patients requiring urgent attention for eye and vision-related conditions.
