The Office of the Public Advocate established the Community Guardianship Program to help people in the community become involved in the lives of people with a disability.

A Community Guardian makes lifestyle decisions . E.g. about health and care and accommodation, for a person whose disability prevents them from making reasonable decisions for themselves.

The Community Guardian must act in the represented person's best interests and consider their wishes.
