The volunteer visitors provide friendly companionship to the 'matched client' for one hour per week on an individual basis to clients living in their own homes.  Volunteer visits to Aged Care facilities are usually on a fortnightly basis.

Our volunteer visitors atten regular training sessions and receive continuing and on-going support both at an individual and group level during the course of their visiting.  This service is free of charge and is conducted according to Government guidelines

The Office of the Public Advocate established the Community Guardianship Program to help people in the community become involved in the lives of people with a disability.

A Community Guardian makes lifestyle decisions . E.g. about health and care and accommodation, for a person whose disability prevents them from making reasonable decisions for themselves.

The Community Guardian must act in the represented person's best interests and consider their wishes.

The Council of Single Mothers and their Children provides information, support and referral to single mothers across Victoria.  

We can assist women with a wide range of issues including housing, emergency relief, domestic violence, Centrelink, family law, child support and any of the joys and challenges of being a single mother. 

Run by and for single mothers CSMC has been committed to improving the conditions of single mothers and their families for over 40 years.  

Membership is free for single mothers, and our newsletter and email bulletins keep members up to date with current issues affecting single mothers. 
 
CSMC has a long and successful history of advocating to improve the circumstances of single mothers, work we continue to this day through political advocacy, representation of single mother issues to government and community organisations, and involvement in research.
