A comprehensive range of diagnostic and interventional radiology is available including:

Plain x-rays - usually no appointment is necessary.
General procedures - Including intravenous pyelograms (IVP), intravenous
cholangiogram (IVC), barium meals, barium enemas and venography.

CT scanning -A full range of CT examinations are available on our 2 multislice CTs, including guided biopsy and drainage.

Ultrasound - A full diagnostic service is provided including general ultrasound and small parts scanning, vascular ultrasound together with colour doppler and musculoskeletal ultrasound. 

Angiography DSA - Many angiograms can now be performed on a day or outpatient basis. Only the safe non ionic contrast is used.

Interventional procedures - A complete range of interventional procedures 	is offered including angioplasty.  Many of these can be performed on a day or outpatient basis. 

Nuclear Medicine Service - A comprehensive Nuclear Medicine service is available including Cardiac Stress Testing. The latest state of the art equipment is used to produce superior image quality and accurate diagnoses.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) – Medicare rebate available

Requesting Examinations: Western Hospital Radiology referral pads may be obtained by contacting the department on 8345 6234. 
				
A doctors letter of referral is also acceptable as an alternative.
 
Written Reports:

Privately referred patients may take their films and report with them.  Otherwise, they will be sent to the referring doctor.   Reports on public patients who have been examined in Western Hospital are available on receipt of a fax or letter from the general practitioner.  This is a requirement to comply with our patient confidentiality obligations.
