Gin Gin Hospital - Podiatry Services

The Podiatrist delivers a
specialist clinical podiatry service for community clients with a
focus on people with 'high risk' feet conditions.
Our Podiatrist may support people with:
• Active foot lesion (wound, ulcer, infection, surgical site)
• Chronic disease and gross foot deformity or skin problems
such as callus, corn, skin cracks
• Diagnosis or differential diagnosis of Peripheral Arterial
Disease Peripheral Vascular Disease or Peripheral Neuropathy
• Clients with diabetes if they have not been seen by a podiatrist
or GP within the last 12 months, especially in the presence
of peripheral neuropathy; peripheral vascular disease; foot
deformity; or skin problems
• Clients with a history of falls in the last 12 months
Low priority services:
• Newly diagnosed clients with diabetes and no foot
complications identified
Routine nail care will not be undertaken unless there is a
clear medical reason for doing so
