Supporting Parents

The Early Parenting Support (EPS) Service is an innovative and exciting service supporting young families during the early infant period.
With increasingly short stays in hospital, many new parents feel like they have little idea of what to do, what to expect and what to feel, when they get home with their new baby. For many, there is little family support, or it is too far away, and community resources can be difficult to access or are too stretched to provide quick and effective assistance.
At NEST, we are lucky to have staff with Midwifery and Maternal and Child Health Nurse qualifications and experience allowing us to offer an Early Parenting Support Service where an experienced Nurse can visit your home and provides a range of services tailored to the needs of your family, such as:
* Monitoring child's growth
* Monitoring child's development
* Dealing with parenting concerns
* Provision of play and learning ideas
* Connecting and communicating with your child
* Education around issues that have arisen with a Doctor or Maternal and Child Health Nurse

Nest Family Clinic

Parenting Orders Program - for separated parents in high conflict. These services include Parent-Child Therapy, Girls with Attitude, Grief and Loss Workshops, Grandparents Group, Parents Resolving Conflict, Renovation Your Relationship, Fathering after Separation, Men's Behaviour Change Group and Indigenous Men's and Women's Network.

After hours appointments can be arranged when necessary.

Karen Potter - Psychotherapy and Counselling

Mercy Health O'Connell Family Centre is focused on the needs of vulnerable families and young children. The residential, day and community programs provide child-focused parenting skills to promote safe child development. The centre is increasing its support for vulnerable families including families with mental health issues. Families are referred to Mercy Health O'Connell Family Centre by health professionals and community providers. Services are provided by a team of professionals. Each family has an initial intake assessment and is then offered the most appropriate program to meet their needs.
