An Orthotist/Prosthetist assess, prescribe, fit, monitor and provide education regarding the use and care of appropriate orthosis/prosthesis for individual requirements. An orthosis is a brace or appliance designed and fitted to the body to control biomechanical alignment, protect and healing injury, assist rehabilitation, reduce pain, improve mobility and independence. It replaces missing body parts, usually and upper or lower limb to improve function and/or cosmesis.
