The Perioperative Unit is part of the operating suite and is designed to allow patients to undergo investigations and procedures without overnight admission to the hospital.

Patients are admitted to the Unit a short time before their surgery or investigation.  
Overall length of stay is dependent on the type of procedure and anaesthetic.  It is usually no more than 3 - 4 hours.
