The medical specialty of plastic surgery encapsulates a comprehensive and diverse set of subspecialty disciplines. Fully qualified surgeons who perform plastic surgery are known as specialist plastic surgeons. They are integral to the public hospital system and contribute extensively to the advancement of medical science through research, education and training.
All ASPS members hold a specialist qualification from the Royal Australiasian College of Surgeons (RACS). Members of ASPS have undertaken a minimum of 12 years medical and surgical education, including at least 5 years of specialist postgraduate training.
