Working directly with young people, their families and supporters, Orygen pioneers new, positive approaches to the prevention and treatment of mental ill-health, including early intervention for psychosis, a focus on functional recovery and evidence-backed digital supports.
Having established the field of youth mental health more than 30 years ago, Orygen continues to grow and innovate with 16 professors, 34 PhD students and 35 graduate researchers among its 200 research staff, all working to improve the lives of young people in Australia and around the world.
Orygen has 12 key areas of research focus, including clinical neuroscience, clinical staging, early psychosis, eating disorders, functional recovery, mood and anxiety, personality disorder, substance use and suicide prevention. Orygen has a technology arm, Orgyen Digital, doing research into Virtual Reality and digital interventions for youth mental health.
